What are we doing?

Loctudy

Camaret was great but it was time to go south. We had been recommended the Glenan islands and we needed to get past the Raz de Sein. For those that don't know the Raz de Sein has a reputation like no other as in the wrong conditions it is a truly terrifying place to be and there are some spectacular photographs on Google for those that are interested. For us it was about just picking the right time to go and as it was it could not have been easier.

Whilst the sea conditions were lovely the weather itself was miserable it was dark, foggy, misty what can I say it was just like most if the days on this holiday you have to laugh. We decided than anchoring off a group of islands was not for us in these conditions, we want to do that on a beautiful sunny balmy day not in the rain and mist. We headed to Loctudy.

We were given a berth on the "Wave breaker", great! Actually it was fine as there were no wave to break, but it goes with the territory for such a big boat. It was a great place to be actually.

The next day we woke up to rain and it just kept raining, we watched an episode of Inspector Montalbano, did some of the blog and some work and it was still raining at 4pm. At 5it stopped and we headed off to the town. Well town is a stretch, it was like something out of a Clint Eastwood spaghetti western, seriously it was one street with nothing in it. It was a nice stop and marina but badly let down by the town.

  • The Raz looking moody but benign
  • This truly capitivates our summer holiday.
  • I can't remember the time it rained continuously for 12 hours
