What are we doing?

Cameret lay day

We left Sainte Marine with a miserable grey sky, and we feel that we are starting to enjoy British weather again; but the sailing was excellent and we made good progress.

We were anxious to get through the Raz and not to arrive late on the ebb as Linda and I had done last time when we had something of a shock. As it was the Raz was a non-event and that is exactly what you want. It was a long journey and as we rounded the last corner towards Cameret we zoomed off like a shot as we came on to the wind at a great angle. It was now quite late and the weather was calm so we decided to anchor off and save the mooring fee we had no plans to go ashore that evening and we could go in to the marina the next day.

We had a great nights sleep and we all woke naturally and made our way to the cockpit for tea. I called the marina and asked of we could come in and we were offered the space on the end of the outside of the marina and we pulled the anchor up and moored. We soon realised that the berth we were in was awful and getting the worse of the chop, swell and wind. We wandered around the marina and found a suitable space inside and asked if we could move. The dock master agreed and in we went, it was a bit tight and it is the first time we have been allowed to go inside and we were so lucky because shortly afterwards the rest of the boats in the anchorage decided they too wanted to come in and spaces quickly filled up. It was how can I say entertaining, boats arriving with no lines or fenders ready etc etc.

After breakfast Ian and Gwen went shopping and exploring and this was my opportunity to fix the blocked toilet…unfortunately they came back to catch me in the act and Ian was not backward in coming forwards to give me a hand. Once this was resolved I was put in the shower and all my clothes went through the wash.
