What are we doing?

Nazare

We departed Oerias at our usual 6am and headed for Nazare. Nazare is famous for its huge waves if you have access to a topographical map of the sea bed it is fascinating the seas are really deep only a few hundred yards from the shore and with westerly winds waves can reach over 100 feet. Luckily they knew this before constructing the harbour so in all but poor conditions the entrance is safe but can be uncomfortable.

We had a reasonable sail from Oerias and we arrived in Nazare at about 5pm and what a welcome we received. The dock-master clearly knew all about boats so we has been given instructions to put fenders on the starboard side this was to ensure that once we had docked our bows were into the wind making the cockpit comfortable. The he recognised us from last year and made quite a fuss. The reception was brilliant.

We were chased out of the cockpit by mozzies and so finished our meal below and watched an episode of the Young Montabalno.
