What are we doing?

Guernsey and it's not raining!

We left the Worborrow Bay at a civilised 6am in order to time our arrival to get the change of tide at the top of the Alderney Race. This is important because the "Race" can run at up to seven knots so you cannot forgot the tide you must go with it.

We arrived perfectly (This never happens) and we could see our boat speed change as the tide was at first against us and then with us as we were whisked up towards Guernsey. The thing was we were having such a nice sail and the wind had dropped and the navigational computer said we would arrive at 18:23. This was no great problem since it was not going to get dark until 10pm. I decided to call the harbour master just to let him know we were coming so that they would know to keep a space for our size of boat. The Harbour Master relied that Covid testing was open until 6pm so if possible we should try to arrive in time otherwise they would not test us until the morning and we would be in quarantine until the results were in. Much as we were enjoying the sail as we were only doing 5 knots through the water we out the engine on. We arrived at 17:45 and much to our delight and surprise our friends Susan and David Lyle were already in isolation on their boat Heodic, we were tested at 17:55!

The next day, we had to wait on our boat until the results of the test were back, I decided it was a day for jobs so I emptied the lockers because they are so full of stuff I thought it was a good time to have a sort out. As you can see from the photo above we have no free space in our lockers! At 2pm we were cleared in and free to go around without the need to wear masks anywhere, oh joy.

Once I had replaced everything in lockers we moved the boat from the isolation pontoon. We were exhausted and went to bed early.
