Figuerra da Foz

The only good thing I can say about Figuera da Foz is that it is not too far from Nazare, this allowed us to have a late departure and so we went for a walk through the town and up the hill. The railway was it of action whilst remedial works to stabilise the hill are taking place. We could not see that pouring tons of concrete is going to do anything to arrest the forces of nature but you cannot blame them for trying.

Nazare was so lovely and when we reached the top of the hill we were surprised to find a town square with market stalls, how did we miss this last time? At around 11:30 we started out return journey to checkout and leave.

As we left the harbour we were greeted by a mill pond, it could not have been smoother. We were however in real luck once we cleared the headland we hoisted the pink'un and we were off. 10 minutes motoring to get out of the harbour and we went the rest of the way under our cruising chute and we didn't have to touch it. No trimming it was simply a brilliant sail. They call it champagne sailing and it really felt like it.

The arrival in Foz could not have been more miserable. The harbour masters do not work at weekends and the marina is manned by a security guard who was transferred from another role and know nothing about boats or marinas. When we arrived we could not get any information about where he wanted us to dock so in the ned we just picked a sot ourselves. Next visit we will do our best to skip this stop.
