Day 10 Still in Neyland

The Pill (the local name for the creak the marina is located in) was formally used to build ships but this practice was stopped in the sixteenth century as the location was considered defenceless against attack.

In the mid nineteenth century this became a major freight terminus and a huge railway yard was build for this purpose. However this all stopped in 1964 when Mr Beeching took out his red pen.

In the 1970/80's a new marina was built and the derelict railway siding were built over to make a series of industrial units for yacht services and to support what was to become a 500 yacht marina.

I don't know where today went I spent the morning working and Graham fixed our dinghy straps (Brilliant). The forecast for tomorrow is for a change the weather so we are planing to anchor in the lee of St David's Head.

This evening we went for a circular walk around the rather uninspiring town of Neyland. However the bright spot was the lovely statue of IBK the original having been stolen for scrap metal. Luckily the town were able to track down the original mouldings and so an exact copy replacement was moulded and now sits proudly on its plinth.
