What are we doing?

Roscoff - Cameret

It was another early start we had to get to the top of the Chenal Du Four for the turn of tide and would you believe it we awoke to … fog. This is exactly what happened when Linda and I departed from Roscoff last time, only on that occasion the fog was so thick we had to rely on radar until we reached the River Helford in Cornwall! Luckily once we exited the harbour we found that the fog was patchy but we have a least 100 yards of visibility. We passed through the passage south of Ile-de-Batz and immediatly the fog became thicker and so I activated the automatic fog horn.

Luckily within 30 minutes the fog had cleared and we were on our way. We soon saw a pod of dolphins who were feeding and were not coming to play. unfortunately we had to motor until we reached the Chenal and as we did, we took a 270 degree turn and we were then in a good sailing direction and out came the sails… whoo-hoo. Not only were we in a good direction but the wind filled in and we had the most fantastic sail right up to the marina at Cameret.

That evening we treated ourselves to a meal at the nearest restaurant and then to bed.

Tomorrow we have to face the Raz and I hope it is not like the last time I went through. needless to say it will be an early start to get to the Raz at slack.
