Portland Bill

We have a free day today, it is really windy so we are exploring Portland Bill. A few years ago I joined English Heritage when we all arrived at Pendennis Castle, it was as cheap with a discounted family membership as buying a day pass. However that's how they get you when you forget to cancel the direct debit. Seven years later when we have only ever visited two other English Heritage places we spotted the castle on the bill and as quick as a flash we got our mobiles out and booked ticket "online' as we had been turned away from the gate. Having now booked a slot we were able to enter, utter madness what are people without smart phones supposed to do? The castle was quite interesting but very small, the cafe was closed which rather spoiled it.

We then had a stroll to the waters edge and had to climb the huge hill of stones. At the end we spotted a pub and a cafe. We settled on the cafe, unfortunately after waiting for about 20 minutes they told us that the full menu had finished 10 minutes before and they only had panins worse I made a very poor choice it was very dry but we did manage to get the last table they were so busy. I have to say as a businessman I do not understand places that turn away customers wanting to spend money and there were lots of them. The owners wife was running around saying how busy they were but none of the waitresses were doing anything it was all very strange.
